The problem was that the “perfect color combination” only existed in my imagination!

The Peruvian Llama Story.

I’ve been involved in the world of fiber since I was very young, BUT I have to say NOT by choice. During my teens years I lived with my grandma who used to do it all. Like a true Peruvian she used to go to the market and come back with a bag of alpaca or sheep wool. I knew as soon as she came back that my next few days were NOT going to be fun. I knew I was going to spend days skirting, scouring, dying and spinning. My grandma used to let me go after we were done with the dying. I think she secretly loved to spin and did not want to share that pleasure with me (She’s always spun with a drop spindle, Portuguese style). Believe me, after having my hands in cochinilla color for a whole day I wanted to escape as fast as possible! My interest in knitting and spinning wouldn’t come until years later…

I learned how to knit less than a year ago. I picked a hat and a cowl as my first projects, strand knitting in the round. YouTube was my best friend for five days. Since then I am OBSESSED with knitting. My favorite expression lately is “I have to knit, I really have to”. (I sound like my four year old daughter “Mom, I have to!”)

Hand Dyed Yarn

Dying came after realizing that “to complete the perfect project” I had to pick the "perfect color combination/colorway”. The problem was that the “perfect color combination” only existed in my imagination!

So here I am sharing all those dreamy combinations. Hopefully I can help you complete your “perfect dream project”!
